Last November, renowned columnist, author and journalist Hunter Davies wrote a column in The Sunday Times about his experience visiting Hearing Healthcare Practice. You can read his article HERE. Over the years we’re delighted to say that many journalists have written about their positive experiences with us. Martin Short of Country Life featured his experiences over two separate articles. The second article is now reprinted here.
“The impact was immediate. In a visual sense, my hearing was now acutely sharp, crystal clear and with a rejuvenated vibrancy; likely a clearing fog, the picture was now focused. Conversation was improved and I could’ve heard a pin drop. I had renewed confidence and felt ready to move my life forward!
“My previous article described the realisation that a gradual loss of hearing was now affecting my life to such an extent that I had made a decision to visit the Hearing Healthcare Practice in Harpenden for an audiology test. Following a hearing assessment, it was determined that I was an ideal candidate for hearing improvement and the opportunity to take advantage of a trial with a solution called Lyric was suggested.
“The process of fitting Lyric took a matter of minutes. The initial session took a little longer because Jo, my audiologist, spent time making measurements to ensure a perfect fit and trial fitting to build my confidence to instil a sense of trust that this very discreet device was not visible, was easily removable I would not fall out! The technical innovation of lyric really is as astounding as its benefits.
“A new pair of shoes, new reading glasses or even a different hairstyle can often take time to feel comfortable with. Lyric is no exception. Jo explained that initially my voice would sound different to me but this would soon settle down. Cover your ears and talk and you get a sense of the experience.
“Conversation always was an issue, with a fair amount of guesswork and a modicum of lip reading required. I found social situations exhausting and my confidence started to falter. With Lyric fitted, it was as if I had revisited an earlier decade in my life! I heard Jo’s voice very clearly as we discussed Lyric.
“The impact was immediate and, in a visual sense, my hearing was now acutely sharp, crystal clear and with a rejuvenated vibrancy; like a clearing fog, the picture was now focused. I drew a comparison to an opaque pane of glass which shatters to reveal a sharply focused panoramic view.
“Like a kid at Christmas, I had received the present I wished for and was eager to experience it I can hear everyday sounds with the new resonance. The shrill of an excited child’s voice, the clutter of coins in a supermarket till, snippets of conversation from people walking past and, much to my concern, the rattling squeaks as I drove off in my car! But it was the sound of a cold tap running the perhaps made a memorable impression: almost like crack cracking ice as each drop fell!
“After four or five days I began to settle in my Lyric and forgot I was wearing them! Conversation was less of an effort becoming more enjoyable and I could’ve heard a pin drop. I have a renewed confidence and feel ready to move my life forward with my new, invisible, friend!”
Martin was fitted with the unique totally invisible Lyric hearing device. Our audiologists at Hearing Healthcare Practice were the very first in the UK to fit the launch version of Lyric back in 2011. Over the years, Lyric’s track record has developed and improved. Lyric is designed with convenience of use at its heart. Once placed in the ear canal, it resides out of sight for weeks and months on end. It is worn 24 hours a day and is only removed when it needs replacement.
If an invisible hearing solution appeals to you, then as the only local provider of Lyric, it would be our pleasure to provide you with the benefit of our extensive experience. To arrange an appointment or to request more information CLICK HERE.
