It’s always good to see the benefits of hearing technology featured in the mainstream media.
And so, this week we were particularly pleased to see wildlife expert, presenter and campaigner, Chris Packham featured on BBC 1’s ‘The One Show’, talking about his own hearing journey and the fact that he was worn a hearing aid for many years. Like many other viewers our reaction was, ‘we never knew Chris Packham wore hearing aids!’ And that was, in part, the message of the feature; that today’s hearing technology can be so discrete it is almost impossible to see (and, in some cases, utterly invisible).
But Chris Packham was appearing to make a wider point, and one you’ll be very familiar with if you’ve read our previous news reports. Namely that having your hearing checked regularly and, if necessary, seeking help from an expert audiologist is vital, for your quality of life now and, potentially, in the future.
But Mr. Packham explains it better than we can in this short news story so, if you have a few minutes, do take the time to watch his segment on ‘The One Show’, on BBC iPlayer HERE. It starts at 1 minute 40 seconds and ends around 5 minutes and 15 seconds.
The fact that Chris Packham starts the piece talking about bird song is particularly apposite since, in a survey we featured previously in our NEWS section, bird song was the sound people felt they would miss the most if they lost their hearing and the sound the majority of people reported as the most exciting to reclaim once they’ve been fitted with hearing aids.
