We’re delighted to announce that our own Robert Beiny, founder of the Hearing Healthcare Practice in Harpenden, has won the prestigious UK Audiologist of the Year Award 2017. With strong competition from hearing aid audiologists from both private practice and the NHS across the UK, this is the third time Robert has won the UK’s top award in what are widely accepted as the hearing industry’s ‘Oscars’.
“Robert made such a difference to my life – I was suddenly able to hear things I hadn’t heard for twenty years.”

The Audiologist of the Year Awards, a Europe-wide competition, is organised by leading hearing aid battery manufacturer, Rayovac, and sponsored by The European Federation of Hard of Hearing People (EFHOH).
Now in it’s 10th year, the competition relies on nominations from patients who have experienced exceptional care from their audiologists.
Robert Beiny was nominated by Christine, a patient at the Hearing Healthcare Practice in Harpenden who, in her entry, described how he didn’t just fit her hearing aids, he gave her hope for the future.
In her heart-warming nomination Christine said:
“My first impression of Robert Beiny was that he was kind, sympathetic, calm, reassuring, competent and knowledgeable. Fifteen years on, I can certainly say that impression was spot on. He gave me hope.
“Robert has managed to help me keep pace with my hearing loss (I have a severe to profound loss in both ears) by fitting me with the latest aids that might give me an edge in the hearing world.”
But Robert is not the only audiologist at the Hearing Healthcare Practice to have been recognized. Over the past 10 years he and his fellow audiologists, Jo Rae and Sanna Aziz, have received no fewer than 13 awards and special commendations, including Robert’s three top UK awards and, in 2009, when he was named European Audiologist of the Year, this tally makes the Hearing Healthcare Practice in Harpenden, Europe’s most acclaimed Hearing centre of excellence.
Audiologist of the Year 2017, Robert Beiny said;
“I’m obviously absolutely delighted to have won the Audiologist of the Year Award again. But this really is an award for the whole Hearing Healthcare Practice team and our unique, holistic approach. What makes these Awards so special is that they are nominated by patients. And, I’m so proud to see, what comes across, time after time reading their kind words, is that it’s our caring approach, understanding and professionalism that set us apart from our peers, rather than simply the amazing technology we all have access to.
“I’d really like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all the patients who nominated us. Without them we couldn’t do the work we do nor achieve so many amazing and life changing results together.”
Paula Brinson-Pyke, Marketing Director at Rayovac, said:
“Robert Beiny’s top award is not only an accolade in its own right but plays a key role in supporting the practices of winning audiologists around Europe.
“In our 10th anniversary special year, we’ve received an incredible number of entries to the competition showcasing the high standard of work taking place across Europe.”
Judging is now underway to decide which of the winners from each of the participating countries, including Robert Beiny, will go on to win the coveted title of European Audiologist of the Year.
The winner will receive a cash prize along with a certificate, which will be presented at the annual Evening of Excellence during the EUHA event in Germany this October.
