Hearing loss is the largest modifiable risk factor for developing dementia, exceeding that of smoking, high blood pressure, lack of exercise and social isolation.
As we enter 2020 and a New Decade we’d like to wish all of our friends and clients a happy and healthy future. And, with that very much in mind, we’ve included a link to a recent and timely article in the New York Times underlining the crucial importance of hearing healthcare for brain health, for all ages.
The fact that measurable cognitive losses occur at hearing levels below 25 decibels, and that cognition gradually worsens as hearing declines, suggests that protecting against hearing loss should start in childhood.
